The Cardiff Kook 5k Run, 10k Run & Kids K
Start & Finish under the iconic, “ENCINITAS” sign on Coast HWY 101. This scenic Pacific Ocean low incline loop passes by the famous “Cardiff Kook” statue, rises above some of the most popular surf breaks in the world and heads down to So. Cardiff State Beach. There is something special about running along the Pacific Ocean with only wind, waves and friends.

Race Day Schedule and Registration Hit the alarm, stretch and run out the door to the Check-In. The 10k race begins at 7:30am, Kids-K starts 7:40am and 5k Fun Run/Walk/Costume Contest starts at 8:10am.

Cardiff Kook 5k (Adult) $49 ($55 day of)
Cardiff Kook 5k (Youth 11-17) $29

Registration includes race entry, chip timed bib, exclusive 2020 exclusive t-shirt & finisher medal.
(Kids-K is untimed).

Costume Contest Awards and Rules
Register at the Costume Contest Registration table prior by 7am
Costume award ceremony immediately following the 10k race
Normal running attire is not considered a costume
Awards will be given to the top three Individual and Group divisions who best display the spirit of the kook.
RACE COMPLETION TIMES
Race completion times have no bearing on costume contest results

Participants must be present at awards ceremony to receive awards

We strongly encourage you pick up your bib and trucker hat a Road Runner Sports as the day of the event will be quite crowded.

Steve has been running this stretch of Coast Hwy 101 since 1976. He and his son in law, Seth were running one super bowl Sunday morning and Seth Said, “everyone should do this”…the rest is history.

Roads will be closed from Encinitas Blvd South to Chesterfield. Western lanes will from Chesterfield South to Cardiff State Beach.
